MONUMENTS OF INTEREST - The 16th century castle/fort can be found in the town centre. Of military renaissance style it currently houses the chapel of the Virgin of Loreto, the Aquarium, with part of the fauna to be found in Santa Pola bay, the fishing museum with a wide range of objects linked to the sea. Near the castle are the ruins of the ancient Portus Ilicitanus, with the Palm Grove Roman house, dating from the later imperial age, and the Roman fish pickling factory, which dates from the 4th century AD., as well as numerous Iberian and Greek remains.
SPORTS - The Santa Pola sailing club is one of the most charming places on our coastline. A notable range of sports are offered, with yacht, canoe and kayak schools, as well as sailing courses. Taking advantage of the height of Cape Santa Pola, paragliding and hang-gliding are also possible.

Pickled fish and grilled shrimps are justly famous, and are the best starter before you enjoy the juicy Santa Pola fish stew, and a number of rice dishes including black, seafood and crusted rice.
