Tabarca Island (11 miles south of Alicante, off Santa Pola) is a biological marine reserve. With its beaches, rocks and crystal clear waters, it is one of the most recommendable outings for lovers of the sea and underwater life. There is a small village with a fortified area from the 18th century. The island offers beach restaurants whose specialities are rices, fish and stews. During the summer, a glass-bottomed boat covers a route around the perimeter of the island offering a glimpse into underwater life. The boat leaves from Santa Pola and Guardamar and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. For lovers of underwater life, there is the chance to contract a boat excursion from Santa Pola to Tabarca and, there, have your sea baptism with oxygen tanks (if you are a novice), accompanied by a professional and see all the underwater life that Tabarca offers. Scuba-Elx; hire and sale of underwater equipment and excursions. More information on this trip can be had in the campsite reception.
